The City Council approved this project on May 23, 2016 to transition to water meter reading technology. Transitioning to automated meter reading is beneficial because it increases the efficiency of the billing process as well as creates the ability for the City to proactively look at usage for its customers. This will allow us to provide better customer service and enhance our reporting capabilities. The City’s municipal water customers will also benefit from this technology as it allows customers the ability to monitor their own consumption in real time online.
Meter reading end point installations are expected to begin the second week of October and are expected to conclude within approximately six months. The end point installation will be performed by an outside contractor which will have magnetic signs attached to their vehicles identifying their relationship to the City.
