Watching images of the destruction from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma illustrate the need for both emergency preparedness and the ability to handle the immediate aftermath when power, water and other services have been disrupted.
The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD) is again offering Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training this fall. Classes will be held from 6 to 9:30 pm on Monday evenings from October 2 to November 6, 2017, and will include Saturday, October 21 from 9 - 4 pm. Classes are held at the City of Pleasanton's Operations Service Center and the LPFD training grounds on Busch Road in Pleasanton. Classes are free and open to those who live and/or work in the cities of Livermore and Pleasanton.
Through classroom and hands-on instruction, participants will learn about disaster preparedness and basic response related to fire safety, disaster medical operations and light search and rescue.
